You typically get your monies worth, with book length and story quality; I gave the book 4 stars based on this. However I tried really hard to like Jayme but she just kept pissing me off.**SPOILER**
I felt she was too unhuman, I mean she had the love of her life and a family and it seemed at the end of the day she was mainly interested in chasing ambulances. There were no words really written about how she felt as a new mother and how she was feeling about her developing child, you get the feeling they loved their child but it was not discussed, which is not typical in romance novels because expressing the feelings for a child they created would have showed the wholeness and completeness of their love. The book says she's an adrenaline junky well that just rubbed me the wrong way because that just sets her up in my head as an incompatible person for a romance novel, unless she changed, in my opinion. The biggest thing that pissed me off was her blind lapdog behavior to being a cop, after all that went down a human (like Wanda) would be having second thoughts about a career change, you have seen the corruption and been a part of it and was pissed about it and then she doesn't question it any further than that. It was stupid to me that she took her anger out on the FBI agents without thinking and being pregnant (to prove what!), the fact is that what they did to her they had been doing to people since the 60's (example the old astronaut was also used) so it should have been understood that what they did was "protocol" and they will continue to do it, why get mad at them and not the system and understand that the police department is apart of that same system (come on)she should be mad at her self? Did she not break protocol by force entering someone's house looking for meme then going through all of his possessions like he was not worth justifying that she did not have a warrant, even after the man asked? She was just too much of walking contradiction. Xzion (?) was right when he said drug dealers did more harm than he did, because they prayed on people who were weak, destroying their own people, and his job was to eradicated the chain to stop it and all she could say was she understood the action but it was the way in which he killed them, that made him a monster (seriously!) she did not acknowledge he was right because she was a lap dog for the FBI and incapable of using logic or making informed decisions outside of what would get her a head pat, it was disgusting honestly. I enjoy strong female characters and she was just weak all around. As I said earlier I really felt no motherly bond with her about her own child and how it possibly completed their love, it was a lot of great heated sex with the alien doing most of the real feeling.

This story line had a lot of imagination in the layout and the delivery was just a masterpiece. Of course not surprising from the author of Saint...I did like Xzion character and the way he loved and was addicted to Jaymie to the point of allowing her to leave him which in turn took him to the brink of self destruction. What i didn't feel however, was Jaymie's unconditional love for him as she was able to move on pretty quickly after she left him and never even once tried to go back to him and show any signs of missing him as he did her. Yes she allowed him to conduct his business but she was not as demonstrative as he was. Xzion was simply so intense especially during their lovemaking sessions where he was so vocal in a sensual kind of way (my kind of a guy). I miss Saint's crazy behind but also would like to see Xzion and Jaymie love story progress and let Aton experience love too. Jaymie's brother was too funny especially telling his sister's business to Xzion without talking with her first...now that's a buzybody. I have to say that after Saint i didn't think they could be another interesting hero or plot with supernatural elements but Tiana Laveen took me there once more...Can't wait for a sequel.
Riveting sci fi Romance.. It kept me engaged and oh boy I just knew that once Xzion tapped into that emotional side all hell would break loose or the heavens would open up( whichever way you wanna look at it). Jayme was determined and played her cards right. It's interesting their coming together and I loved that a friendship of some sorts was built from that even though you'd think it wasn't possible and how that all evolved was like... WOW!!

Was it that 98% of human-kind were addicts? I couldn't understand the logic of why the Zarkstormians wanted to wipe out ALL the dealers.. I mean really, I'm sure there were plenty of "PURE" humans to go around if they just kept looking away from the "polluted". I had to let that question go otherwise the whole story plot wouldn't make sense, because it wasn't really explained clearly just how much of humans were drug induced and why it would take so long to get to PHASE II.
Non-the-less it was a pleasurable read

Let me just say that after reading Saint I thought that no other supernatural being could come close. However Xzion did. I purchased this book on Friday, March 23, 2013, and finished on Sunday, March 25. I would have finished earlier but I could not neglect my duties any further. My hat goes off to Ms. Tiana Laveen. Once again she had proven herself to be very gifted in her writings. I love the conversations between Jayme and Xzion. I like to fact the even though Xzion was dangerous Jayme help to calm him. She helped him develop human feelings, but most of all she helped him to experience love. Yes the sex scenes between them are hot but I expected nothing less from this writer. She has become one of my favorite authors. Fifty Shades of What????? I hope that there is a sequel or I hope Ms. Laveen had started on her next novel.
